Enriching Youth

Program Highlights
  • School-age children participate in science, technology, math, literacy, music and physical therapy programs annually.
  • The USDA Forest Service STEM Summer Camp, introduces youth to the wonders of science, technology and environmental stewardship; 70 children from Pilsen and South Chicago attend this dynamic and interactive camp, motivating an interest in this key area of future workforce developement for the country.
  • 50 children with cerebral palsy are participating in a Conductive Education Summer Camp, a service delivery model that provides an array of intensive therapies in a fun, supportive environment.

The Youth Enrichment Programs are built on love and challenge.  We love our youth, we get to build relationships with them and we get to know their parents.  We also challenge our students to be the best, because we believe that each child, including a child with disabilities, has unlimited potential. It is up to us to bring out their best and help them reach that potential.

Fact:

Did you know:

More than one-in-three Latinos are under the age of 18. Nearly half live in central cities.

Latino children represent 18 percent of all children in the United States, but 30 percent of children below the poverty line.

Only 55% of Latino students in the U.S. graduate from high school with a regular diploma.

A study by the National Council of La Raza demonstrated that Latino children feel strong pressure from parents and society to obtain a college education and a good job.
