JOB SUMMARY:

Assists in overseeing the nursing care and medication administration for El Valor’s residential program participants in accordance with all Department of Human Services and Illinois licensing requirements.

JOB FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to the following)

  • Regularly review and complete training for all staff assigned to pass medication to the residents.
  • Assist with the administering of prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
  • Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions and reports necessary information.
  • Completes a quarterly review of program participants.
  • Provides tuberculosis screens for program participants and staff on an annual basis.
  • Conducts CPR and First Aid classes quarterly.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and provides reports as mandated.
  • Conducts monthly audits of program participant files, medication delivery and new or revised orders.
  • Assist in completing annual assessments of individual residents as required by the Illinois Dept. of Human Services.
  • Attend quarterly Human Rights Committee Meeting and Medical Review Committee Meeting.
  • Provide monthly medical summary to residential case workers.
  • Attend doctor appointments with resident as needed.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree from accredited college or university required.
  • Two to five years of job-related prior experience required.
  • Current State of Illinois registered nurse license.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license required;
  • Reliable means of transportation required.
  • Skilled at verbal and written English and Spanish communication preferred.

  • 1850 W 21st Street, Chicago, IL 60608 – Flexibility to travel to satellite locations required.
