50 years of El Valor
1973
- El Valor is founded by Guadalupe Reyes and opened workshops so individuals with disabilities, like her son Bobby Reyes, can be part of the workforce.
1985
El Valor breaks grounds on its first residential facility for adults with disabilities.
1986
El Valor’s Respite Program is started.
1988
El Valor’s Early Intervention Program is opened at its newly donated building from ComEd at the 1924 location.
1991
Groundbreak of the first Children & Family Center, Guadalupe Reyes on 19th & Damen.
1994
Grand opening of the Guadalupe Reyes Children & Family Center.
1998
Grand opening of the Rey B. Gonzalez Children & Family Center.
2006
Groundbreaking of the Carlos H. Cantu Children & Family Center.
2015
Grand opening of the ComEd Inclusion Center, a workforce center for our adults with disabilities.

Grand opening of the SMART Classroom of the Carlos Cantu Children & Family Center.

Groundbreaking of the Gonzalez Center Playground.
