JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Health and Nutrition Supervisor, the Kitchen Aide / Health Aide is responsible for assisting to maintain up-to-date health records of children enrolled in the Children’s Services program, as well as serve as assisting the kitchen prepare meals for consumption in a sanitary and efficient manner following the regulations set by the Head Start standards, the Department of Health and licensing regulations. The individual will be responsible for assisting in the ordering, receiving and storage of food deliveries as well as health supplies and equipment.

JOB FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to the following)

  • Maintain and update health schedules and records health information in individual student health records.
  • Maintain and monitor health supplies, diabetes/first aid kits and related materials.
  • Follow-up on health care referrals by health care providers and assist families in accessing needed services.
  • Maintain site lists of significant health conditions and children receiving medication.
  • Maintain and update centralized health records.
  • Download and update file health information from COPA.
  • Discreetly handles (while adhering to confidentiality standards regarding children’s records) sensitive information pertaining to children and families.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Current or former parent/guardian of a child receiving Head Start / Early Head Start services;
  • Fluent verbal and written English and Spanish communication required;
  • Completion of Food and Sanitation Certification course may be required;
  • Proof of physical examination, tuberculosis and measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) screening within the last six months required;
  • Successful completion of First Aid/CPR certification required;
  • Current, valid Illinois driver’s license and proof of insurance required;
  • Reliable means of transportation required.
