Additional Adult Programs: Brain Injury and
Respite Services in Chicago

In addition to residential housing, community day services, and employment, El Valor provides two additional programs for adults and families in the Chicago area: acquired brain injury case management and respite services.

Acquired Brain Injury Program

El Valor’s Acquired Brain Injury Program provides case management services to adults living with a brain injury that was not present at birth. This could include injuries resulting from an accident, stroke, or other medical event.

Our case managers help individuals and their families navigate the complex systems involved in brain injury recovery. We assist with coordinating medical care and connecting with community resources. We also help you build a plan for moving forward.

Respite Services

Caring for a loved one with a disability is meaningful work. It can also be trying for the caretaker. El Valor’s respite program exists to give caregivers a break so they can take care of themselves, too.

Whether you need an hour to go to a doctor’s appointment, an afternoon to run errands, or just some time to rest, our trained staff will step in and provide care for your family member so you can take care of daily tasks with peace of mind.

Respite care provides temporary relief for family caregivers. A trained professional cares for your loved one while you take time for personal needs. Think of it as caregiver relief, with someone who steps in so you can step out.
