What Makes El Valor Different

We are not a daycare. We are a school, a support system, and a community all in one.

Home-Visiting Program

Our home visitors bring lessons, resources, and support directly to your family. Weekly 90-minute visits are scheduled at a time that works for you. Parents also join group gatherings where children learn to play with others and families build connections.

Head Start (Ages 3 to 5)

Our preschool program prepares children for kindergarten through play-based, dual-language learning. Children build early reading, math, and social skills in classrooms led by degreed early childhood educators. Every classroom is designed so children can explore, create, and grow at their own pace.

What Families Experience

At El Valor, parents are partners, not visitors. You are welcome in the classroom any time. You can have breakfast with your child and see what they are learning. And feel free to talk with their teacher whenever you need to.

Every family is assigned a Family Advocate who helps with your goals. Need to learn English? Want to buy a home? Looking for dental care for your child? Your advocate connects you with workshops, resources, and the right next step.

You are also invited to join our Policy Council, attend parent workshops, and volunteer. Your voice shapes how our programs run. This is your community, too.

A Community That Grows With You

El Valor is a place where families put down roots. Many of our parents were once children in our programs. Grandparents now bring their grandbabies through our doors. Alumni return to volunteer, to work, and to give their own children the same start they had.

Over the past 28 years, more than 200,000 children have come through El Valor’s programs across Chicago, from Little Village and Pilsen to Roseland and Albany Park. That is generations of families choosing this community, again and again.

Health and Wellness Support

Every child in our programs receives more than an education. We help families find a medical home and a pediatric dentist. We track immunizations and physicals. We support prenatal health for expectant parents. And we make sure every child is nourished with culturally familiar meals prepared fresh, every day.

Four Centers. One Standard of Care.

All four El Valor centers across Chicago offer the same programs, the same curriculum, and the same commitment to your family. Every center has a playground, a smart room, and a full kitchen. If your family moves to a different neighborhood, your child’s experience stays the same.
