Don Quixote Dinner 2019 | ComEd

El Valor is proud to present ComEd with the Corporate Visionary Award at this year’s Don Quixote Dinner. ComEd has been a generous and steadfast partner in assisting El Valor to better serve its communities of children, individuals with disabilities, and their families.

“ComEd’s dedication has helped us provide a voice for El Valor’s children, adults with disabilities, and families for the past 36 years,” said Rey B. Gonzalez, President & CEO of El Valor. “Through our partnership and programs like the Energy Force Ambassadors, they have shown their unwavering commitment to individuals with disabilities and their families.”

Energy Force is a program that trains adults with disabilities as ComEd ambassadors. Ambassadors travel to resource fairs and events throughout the city to teach community members how to save money on their utility bills and be more environmentally conscious by making simple changes at home. El Valor ambassadors have gained confidence, work experience, and independence.

ComEd has donated invaluable resources to bring more opportunities to vulnerable communities, like those El Valor serves. The El Valor and ComEd Inclusion Center is located in a former ComEd substation that was donated to El Valor almost 35 years ago. The center offers workforce development workshops and one-on-one job coaching for adults with disabilities. These resources help connect individuals of all abilities with meaningful employment, and help cultivate their independence in the community. At every level, ComEd has shown its support and thrown the full weight of their corporation behind El Valor’s mission.

Whether it’s the generosity of thoughtful employees who make a donation, the time they give to volunteer and spruce up a children’s center playground, or a new solar light that saves hundreds of dollars, ComEd is constantly thinking of ways to improve the lives of El Valor’s 4,000 families, children, and individuals with disabilities.

In addition to ComEd, El Valor will also be honoring Senator Antonio Muñoz who is set to receive the Don Quixote Leadership Award. The Don Quixote Dinner will take place on Wednesday, June 12, at Hilton Chicago’s Grand Ballroom (720 South Michigan Ave).
