EL VALOR CELEBRATES ANNUAL FAMILY FUN WALK AND HEALTH FAIR IN CHICAGO’S LITTLE VILLAGE WITH 400 PARTICIPATING FAMILIES

Fundraiser event to increase health awareness, proceeds towards El valor’s disability programming

FFW-PicMore than four hundred families and children will participate in El Valor’s Family Fun Walk and Health Fair. President & CEO Rey Gonzalez of El Valor and staff to kick-off the festivities at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 8 at Carlos Cantu Children & Family Center.

Proceeds from the event will go towards El Valor’s programming for individuals with disabilities. Most recently, El Valor has received an “exemplary status” designation from the Internal Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities for their programming to benefit adults and children with disabilities. Some of El Valor’s programming includes: employment placement programs, residential community housing, developmental training, acquired brain injury programs, respite programs and entrepreneurial training.

During the event, families and children will have the opportunity to receive free health screenings and participate in engaging activities and games. Entertainment and performances will be provided as well.

For more than 40 years, El Valor’s has aimed to support and challenge urban families in Chicago to achieve excellence and participate in a health way of life. The organization’s programs exist to enrich and empower communities in Pilsen, Little Village, Back of the Yards and South Chicago.
