Chicago Sun-Times Spotlights El Valor's Community Baby Showers: A Safe Haven for Expectant Mothers

Chicago Sun-Times recently featured El Valor’s Community Baby Showers. The bi-annual event started in 2019, after the death of Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, an expectant mother from Little Village lured to her death by someone promising her baby clothes. Following the tragedy, El Valor wanted to provide a safe space for new and expecting mothers to receive resources and essential baby supplies. Over time, our community baby showers have grown into a much beloved event held at all four of our Children & Family Centers.
