COVID-19 Resources

Resources for Families and How You Can Help

El Valor is dedicated to supporting our children, adults with disabilities, and families during this uncertain time. For updated information, please check back here and also follow us on Facebook.

El Valor’s six residential facilities, home to 50 adults with disabilities, are still open. Our Direct Support Professionals continue to provide critical care to our clients 24/7, and many have decided to live in the residential homes, away from their families, for the duration of the shelter in place order to ensure our clients are well cared for during this uncertain time. Our clients are staying busy and active with activities such as yoga, zumba, and arts and crafts. You can also stay active from your home by participating in our virtual workout sessions on Facebook Live at 11am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or by trying new recipes updated weekly on our Latino Outreach Page.

In partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Audubon Society, El Valor is also offering virtual migratory bird and environmental conservation classes for our adults while they are at home during these challenging times. In addition, employees are receiving essential compliance training such as behavioral supports, nutritional training, and protecting one’s mental health virtually.

El Valor’s on-site programs have been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19, but we are still open and operating to help the members of our community. We are monitoring all the daily updates and recommendations, and will continue to keep you informed. If you are in need of immediate assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your local center. Our staff is dedicated to supporting you through any urgent needs during this crisis. You can also reach us by sending an email to info@elvalor.net with any questions or needs. If your child attends the Cicero Children & Family Center, please contact the Carlos Cantu Children & Family Center at (773) 242-2700.
